Each year, the Petra Cares Gala unites individuals and organizations committed to empowering young people who face significant challenges after leaving the foster care system. Thousands of young adults age out of foster care annually without stable housing, family support or the skills necessary to support themselves. Studies show that nearly 80% of these young people will experience homelessness, incarceration or even death within just a few years.

Through vocational training, education partnerships and job placement opportunities — including programs certified through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) — Petra Cares equips young adults with practical skills, meaningful career opportunities and the confidence needed to succeed. The organization’s automotive training programs provide real pathways into stable careers while helping participants rebuild a sense of dignity, purpose and belonging.
Since launching its programs in 2023, Petra Cares has served 148 students. The organization reports a 72% graduation rate and a 78% job placement rate, demonstrating the powerful impact of providing young adults with structured support and career-focused training.
