Throughout the years, Petra has supported many charitable causes. However, as the needs in Houston continue to grow, Petra started their own non profit in 2021 to have a greater impact. Through careful thought and deliberation, the decision was made to tackle the growing dilemma of youths transitioning out of the foster care system.

There is a huge need for the community to come alongside these vulnerable young people at the most critical time in their lives. Statistics show that 80% of these youth will go to prison shortly after transitioning out, and many will end up homeless. Many of these kids lack the education, social skills and social connections to adequately prepare for adulthood.

With this in mind, we began to strategize to come up with a solution to make an impact with one of the most marginalized people groups in our society. While there are some organizations doing great work to help with housing after transitioning, we discovered very few are dealing with the other major hurdle. Gainful employment. 

We are uniquely positioned to address this challenge by opening our doors to provide a place for training and utilizing our relationships in the automotive industry to connect these individuals with good paying jobs!
